Happy Saturday, babes! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and have been stuffing your face with delicious, warmed-in-the-microwave leftovers for the past three days.
And if you haven’t been doing that at all and have actually been eating healthy and hitting the gym, comment some tips for me down below because ya girl needs them during the holiday season.
ANYWAYS – If you’re from SoCal, you’re well aware of the 95° degree weather we’ve had for the past week. It’s been so hot it’s actually made me feel ashamed to live in California. I mean, mid-90’s in the middle of November?! It’s absurd.
But, we do have some light in the darkness. My semi-reliable weather app says that it’s going to be cold and raining by the end of next week (sing shouts of PRAISE people).
So, in honor of the majorly bi-polar weather that we’ve been having, I decided to write a blog about layers.
I’m not usually the best when it comes to layering my outfits because normally when I wear a jacket or a sweater, it really completes the outfit and I never want to take it off. The same thing happens without the sweater too – sometimes tops just don’t go well with sweaters and jackets over them.
People always nonchalantly say, “bring a jacket” or “throw on an extra layer” like it’s no big deal. But it doesn’t always work like that. It’s not as easy as people make it sound – it’s a tough life we girls live, I’m tellin’ ya.
But, I’m here to help. I recently got the CUTEST striped, strapless jumpsuit from this store called Subdued (which is 60% off in-store right now – if you live near Santa Monica MAKE YOUR WAY OVER THERE ASAP).
I’m normally super picky with jumpsuits because I feel like they fit great around my waist but are too tight around the hips and just don’t look right. But I tried on this bad boy and it fit PERFECTLY.
I loved it so much I had to figure out a way to make it work in cold weather (if it ever gets cold). So, I decided to pair it with a sweater.
If you know me, this shouldn’t be a shocker to you because my sweater obsession and collection is unreal. So. Many. Sweaters. But, let’s be honest – you can NEVER have too many sweaters, am I right or am I right? 😉
And of all the sweaters in my closet, this one is my absolute favorite. It’s from The Native One which is the same store as the sweater in my Fall Favorites Blog (coincidence? I think not. This store is amazing).
Not only is it the softest sweater I’ve ever felt, but it’s cropped just at the right length – not too long, not too short – AND it has the perfect bell sleeves which have been my go-to for the past month.
When you put the jumpsuit and the sweater together, it just looks like a cute sweater paired with cropped, flowy pants. Top it off with a conductor hat from Peter Grimm like the one I’m wearing here, a pair of Steve Madden sandals and you’re good to go.
And if you get too hot, take off the sweater and you still have a perfectly cute outfit. Congratulations friends, together we have officially have MASTERED the layering process.
