Over the past few months I noticed some interestingly amazing photos popping up on my explore feed – 90% of them consisting of a house in the middle of the desert made out of mirrors. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to go.
So, after some location stalking and google searches, I found the house that I was looking for.
This house, my friends, is known as Mirage. An artist named Doug Aitken built this mirrored fun-house as apart of Desert X – an art exhibition where the Coachella valley is basically transformed into a canvas for emerging artists like Aitken to put their work on display.
Mirage was made to model an American-style ranch home and is comprised fully of mirrors – reflecting the desert landscape from the outside and creating a kaleidoscope effect on the inside. Genius I know.
The point of Desert X is to bring awareness to global and local issues like climate change, immigration and even less-touchy topics like golf and gaming. Even though the exhibition is technically closed for the year, some of the pieces, like Mirage, are still open for visitors.
So, if you’re looking for some cool photography spots or want to get in touch with your inner artsy side, make your way out to the Valley.
And, if you happened to notice the velvety stunnas on my feet, I just bought those bad boys from TJ Maxx for a whopping $10! I couldn’t find the exact link but I found some similar shoes online for you babes. So shop the links below or make your way over to the clearance section at TJ Maxx ASAP – you can thank me later.
