My Summer Adventures

My Summer Adventures

Summertime – 3 months filled with friends, no school (or work if you’re adulting like me), sunshine and never-ending adventures.

This summer was crazy for me. Trying to find the balance between post-grad work life with my never-ending urge to travel and explore was a little tedious but somehow I managed to make my way around.

From traveling up the east coast to flying over half way across the world, I have a lot to fill you guys in on. Brace yourselves for a picture overload – I would apologize but I know you guys enjoy great photos so I’ll actually say you’re welcome 😉

So here it is folks, my top 4 summer adventures:

  1. Fripp Island, South Carolina – Have you ever seen The Last Song? Because my week spent on Fripp Island literally made that movie came to life (minus the Liam Hemsworth part – sad day, I know) and it had me feeling all kinds of Nicholas Sparks vibes. White, soft, sandy beaches, tall grass on the brink of the ocean, perfectly warm water, friendly deer roaming the island, golf carts as the main source of transportation, tropical storms – OH and did I mention, BABY TURTLES HATCHING FROM THEIR EGGS AND CRAWLING TO THE OCEAN EACH AND EVERY NIGHT?After spending our days collecting sand dollars and starfish from the ocean, basking in the sun and taking the golf cart around to get snacks throughout the day (corn dogs and ice cream – random, I know but it sounded delicious at the time), we literally got to guide little critters that looked just like Crush from Finding Nemo to the ocean using flashlights and smiles. GOD IS GOOD PEOPLE – He is so good and Fripp Island is so great. Put it on your travel list if you haven’t already.

2. New York City, New York – After spending a week in South Carolina, my friend Tucker and I went on a grand adventure – taking a Greyhound bus up the coast to Lake George, NY and making a stop in the city for a day. Although we only had 8 hours to explore, we made the most of it. From the Staten Island Ferry to the 9/11 Memorial, The Chelsea Market, Central Park, the confusing yet amazing Subway system and my extremely sore feet, NYC blew my mind and gained it’s own personal place in my heart.

I’ve now made it a goal of mine to go back and spend at least a week exploring the nooks and crannies the city has to offer because trust me, there are a TONS (and don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted when it happens).

3. Lake George, NY: After spending a day in the city, Tucker and I bussed up to northern NY and spent three days on Lake George with a friend (praise Jesus for friends who welcome you into their homes so you can stay places for free – am I right?). To be honest, I’d never heard of Lake George before this summer but now I know I’ll never forget it. We spent three days basking in hammocks overlooking the water, playing board games, watching the sun rise from the east and – most importantly – FISHING.

Lake George is filled with bass and we probably spent over 12 hours during our 3 short days on the lake floating around in a little metal boat, hooking worms, casting lines and reeling in little critters. I caught over 20 fish and if I’m being honest, I loved every minute of it.

4. Last but not least -Thailand: This trip was amazing beyond words and I have so much to tell you all about it that it’s getting it’s own blog post. Stay tuned, my friends – it will be coming soon 😉

Well, that’s my summer in a nutshell. I hope you enjoyed this blog and if you want me to write about something specific, make sure to leave it in the comments below. I love you all – have a beautiful week! XO
