NYE Inspo

Happy almost New Year everyone! With a new year comes new friends, fashions, Bachelorette seasons (duh), and adventures. But, before we welcome this new season of our lives, we have to celebrate (literally) all night long on NYE!!

One of my favorite parts about this holiday is that it’s socially acceptable to wear the most dramatic pieces you own. Whether it’s an entirely sequined dress, metallic platform heels, or the brightest lipstick in your makeup bag – it’s all apart of the celebration. That’s why, this year, I put together two outfits made up of three of my favorite trends: fluffy vests, velvet skirts, and sparkling chokers.

This vest – need I say more? At first, when I saw it, I thought to myself “okay, this is somewhere between a shaggy dog and super chic.” But, once I tried it on, I had no choice but to embrace the shaggy dog within because I love dogs and I LOVE this vest.

Whether your vest is made up of fur, wool, or this fuzzy material, when paired with a plain, solid piece, you really can’t go wrong. I found this off-the-shoulder, black body-con dress that went perfectly AND it even had a built in choker. Could it get any better? I’m honestly not sure.

PLUS the entire thing is super warm so whether your celebrating in LA or NY, you will look spicy without getting frostbite – what better way to ring in the new year?

So, for this second look, I wanted to embrace the part of me that is slightly obsessing over this velvet trend.  To be honest, I drool over every velvet piece I see. BUT, sadly, my life’s not that cool so I never have anywhere fancy enough to wear these fancy velvet pieces – you know what I’m saying? It’s the struggle.

BUT, that’s the beauty of NYE. I can sport all the velvet I want and no one will judge me. However, as you may have guessed, deciding which velvet piece I wanted to rock was tough. Then, I was wandering around Forever 21 and came across this olive green/silver-ish mini skirt that only cost $8.50!! I was SOLD.

So, I paired it with this black off-the-shoulder body suit (I’m really into black off-the-shoulder things, can you tell??) and topped it off with a silver sparkling choker for the win. Plus, I already had these black strappy heels so I threw those on and BAM – I looked ready to celebrate.

So there you have it – two statement outfits that I dream about wearing all year long and now finally have the excuse to sport them. When deciding what you’re going to wear this year, I encourage you to go BIG. On NYE there’s no such thing as too much sparkle or shine.
